Main Goal

The main goal of the project is to promote the development of the involved areas of Puglia and the Greek Regions by implementing initiatives related to the audiovisual sector such as the production of short films, the organization of screenwriting workshops and film festivals. In this way, more opportunities will arise, so that these areas become more widely known and their attractiveness, as well as their historical and natural beauty will act as catalysts for their tourist development. In this context, CIAK aims to strengthen the connection of the audiovisual sector with the Greek Regions that participate in it (Western Greece, Epirus, Ionian Islands), through targeted actions that will address professionals in the field such as organization – operation of Film office or scriptwriting training seminars, organized promotion actions (festivals) by region and financing the production of audiovisual material.

The principal objective of the project is to attract major international investors in the film industry. Additionally, another main aim of the project is to promote the utilization of the involved areas of Puglia and the Greek Regions by implementing initiatives related to the audio-visual sector such as production of short films, organization of screenwriting workshops and film festivals. This allows these areas to become more widely known and to highlight the attractiveness of the landscapes, as well as their historical and natural beauty, which act as catalysts for tourism development.

Expected results

The main expected result is the improvement of the areas’ attractiveness and the promotion of sustainable development a)through the creation of direct socio-economic effects due to the attraction of audiovisual producers or related actions, and b)through the increase of the number of visitors as well as through the stimulation of new sustainable services for visitors / tourists. Therefore, the project activities will create benefits for local communities, tourism and audiovisual operators. In addition, the CIAK project allows the transfer of recognized good practices from more experienced to less experienced regions, as well as methods used in public-private sector agreements for the exploitation of cultural and natural heritage.

In short, CIAK project will allow tourism and audiovisual policy makers to work together for the first time, bridging the existing knowledge gap, understanding the economic benefits of cross-sectoral cooperation for their Regions and implementing new models to promote cultural and natural heritage through audiovisual media and products.
