A British ship carrying the high-tech ATAC decoder (a device that gives its owner control of a nuclear submarine) hits a mine off the coast of Albania and sinks. James Bond is called upon to find and bring back the valuable device before it falls into the hands of Soviet agents. For this purpose he comes to Greece and collaborates with the charming Melina Havelok, the daughter of archaeologists who seeks revenge for the unjustified murder of her parents. The twelfth James Bond Film has an intense Greek atmosphere. Most of the film is shot in Corfu and Meteora, as well as in Italy, Spain and the North Sea. Underwater shots were taken in the Bahamas.
