Filming of the feature film “The Eye” has begun in Corfu. The production company of “The Eye” is Greenshoot and the production execution in Greece has been undertaken as a line producer by Elena Priovolou from Argonauts, a production company with award-winning films such as the new film “Crimes of the Future” by David Cronenberg, which was filmed entirely in Greece.

The producer is Melanie Dicks, an award-winning producer with an international career and the director is Daphne Schmon, who draws her origins from Corfu, specifically from Karousades. The protagonist of the film will be Shruti Haasan, a famous Indian actress and singer.

On the occasion of the production in Corfu of the movie “The Eye”, the Region of the Ionian Islands and the Ionian University organized an educational event on the topic:

“Sustainability in Cinema. Filming art and audiovisual productions at the service of highlighting and protecting the natural and cultural environment”

Declaring the opening of the conference, the Regional Governor of Ionian Islands Ms. Rodi Kratsa -Tsagaropoulou referred to the full operation of the Ionian Film Office from March 2021, to its presence at online international events during the pandemic but also at all international film festivals with a physical presence after the end of the pandemic and its establishment as a new PIN service aimed at attracting and facilitating audiovisual producers in the Ionian Islands. She emphasized the importance of the creation of the Film Office based in Corfu and its antennas in the rest of the Region as in the global economy the audiovisual sector has particular dynamics and referred to domestic and international productions that the Ionian Islands Film Office has already supported. Then she signed Memoranda of Cooperation between The Region of Ionian Islands  and the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands and the Municipality of North Corfu as well as with the Ionian University, Department of Audio and Visual Arts and Department of Tourism.
